The Winds of Dune: Book Two of the Heroes of Dune

Frank Herbert’s Dune series is one of the grandest epics in the annals of imaginative literature. Selling millions of copies worldwide, the series is science fiction’s answer to The Lord of the Rings, a brilliantly imaginative epic of high adventure, unforgettable characters, and immense scope.

An immediate sequel to Frank Herbert’s seminal masterpiece Dune Messiah.

The legendary Paul Atreides has disappeared into the desert, blind, and is presumed dead-leaving his entire Imperium in turmoil and without a leader-and his newborn twin children without a father or mother, but under the protection of the Fremen warrior Stilgar.

On Dune, Alia struggles to hold her brother’s vast empire together with Duncan Idaho, but powerful forces and ancient enemies seek to destroy a vulnerable government. Reverend Mother Mohiam has been executed along with her fellow conspirators who aimed to destroy Paul Muad’Dib, and Paul’s wife, the Princess Irulan, is imprisoned.

Lady Jessica is on Caladan, far from the heart of the Imperium, but upon hearing the news of her son’s loss, she and Gurney Halleck rush to Dune, hoping to stop an empire from falling into chaos. But Paul’s former friend, Bronso of Ix, now seems to be leading opposition to House Atreides, intent on destroying the powerful legacy of Muad’Dib.

Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson have written a landmark novel that bridges the gap between Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah and Children of Dune.
